Amino Launches the Next-Generation Amigo 7Y: A New Standard for Sustainability and Performance in Pay TV
Introduction of the Amigo 7Y updates Amino’s Android portfolio while continuing to provide the differentiation loved by customers, quality devices, the best support in the industry and an eco-friendly design.
Cambridge, UK — 7th November 2024 — Amino, a global leader in media and entertainment technology solutions, today proudly announces the launch of the Amigo 7Y, a next-generation Android set-top box (STB) for the Pay TV market, designed to serve the evolving needs of consumers in the USA and Canada. Building on Amino’s reputation of providing the quality and service which is valued by customers who care about provide world class customer service, the new 7Y model updates the range with the latest silicon while improving sustainability and packaging.
The Amigo 7Y updates Amino’s Android portfolio delivering the same high quality, excellent performance for which Amino is renowned and ensures long-term support for future upgrades of Google’s Android TV platform. The Amigo 7Y supports Wi-Fi 6 which is aligned with our customers’ deployment of the technology with the latest generation of gateways being deployed. With this launch, Amino has added a new ‘Lima’ remote control giving customers a smaller, simplified option to complement other options available from Amino.
In keeping with Amino’s commitment to environmental sustainability, the Amigo 7Y is also the company’s most eco-friendly product to date. The device, along with its Lima Remote Control Unit (RCU), is made from recycled plastics. Additionally, the Amigo 7Y is 39.9% smaller than the 7X V2, contributing to a 43% reduction in packaging volume. This size reduction also enables a 42% increase in the number of units packed per pallet, resulting in a lower carbon footprint for transportation.

- Lima Remote Control Unit: The new remote control, made with 100% PCR ABS plastic, is streamlined with 10 fewer buttons than the previous model (Maxi ATV) while maintaining full functionality through Bluetooth and IR support.
- Wi-Fi 6 & Bluetooth Connectivity: internal Wi-Fi 6 and BLE 5 enhance wireless performance, supporting next generation streaming and communication needs.
